Valentines’ Day is everything red, hearts and chocolate! It’s one of my favorite holidays because it’s all about the LOVE! The first thing that came to mind when preparing this blog was tender memories with my daughters. Surely they always looked forward to exchanging V-Day cards with their peers at school, but I always wanted them to look forward to V-Day traditions at home. For example, like adding special decor to our table or making a valentine theme dessert.
So I’m sharing some extremely affordable ideas that you can use to create an atmosphere to love on your family, spouse, parents, or even a single ladies brunch with the girls. Hello! There are no rules to this so have fun!
You’ve seen the pictures in the magazine and online and thought, it’s just too expensive, what if I told you, you could make the bomb (amazing) Tablescape design for only $20!!!!
I challenged one of my creative partner’s Tammy from Tamariah Leigh Creative Designs to help me put an amazing Valentine concept together. The “catch”, she had to design the whole look with a budget of $20. Drumroll please…..! Here’s what she came up with…
Here’s what she had to say about Tablescaping with/or for kids.
“We turn our Tablescaping into a family activity. It allows us to have time for bonding and for me to inspire their creativity. Children-themed tablescapes can be created literally for under $20. It doesn’t take a whole lot of expensive decorations. Just an imagination, a few good store resources, and nature.”
1. Start with a theme.
2. Look for ideas on the Internet to associate with your theme.
3. Establish a color scheme that can tie color for your theme.
4. Simply purchase things that you can get in bulk that will serve more than one place setting. Visit local Dollar Stores, Craft Stores, and school supply stores for bulk items.
5. Incorporate items that you already have at home. Mix a little old with the new.
Here’s A Second Theme I designed this one using some items around the house while purchasing a few new items from the local craft store.
In closing, I’ll admit, as I was out shopping for the V-Day photo shoot I got caught into the whimsical emotions from all of the candy and heart décor, and that’s fine, but let us remember to keep things in proper perspective, love and charity is what we should strive for daily to give to those we come in contact with. Don’t wait to get it, but give it first by emptying out your love tank in the smallest of ways to those you serve in whatever capacity. You’ll be glad you did!
