Ingredients
¼ cup sugar
1
tablespoon ground cinnamon
1 ½ cups sugar
½ cup shortening
½ cup butter, softened
2 eggs
2 ¾ cups all-purpose flour
2 tsp cream of tartar
1
tsp baking soda
¼ teaspoon salt

1.Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
2.Mix 1/4 cup sugar and the cinnamon; set aside.
3.Beat 1 1/2 cups sugar, the shortening, butter and eggs in large bowl with electric mixer on medium speed. Stir in flour, cream of tartar, baking soda and salt.
4.Shape dough into 1 1/4-inch balls.  Roll the balls in sugar-cinnamon mixture.
5.Place about 2 inches apart on ungreased cookie sheet.
6.Bake about 10 minutes or until centers are almost set.
7.Remove from cookie sheet to wire rack.
